There are many opportunities to get involved in Music and Performing Arts at Te Puke High School. There is music tutoring each week if you would like to continue to play an instrument or learn a new one. There is also the school band and singing groups to join. Each term there is a Performing Arts event, in term one this is a Lip Sync competition, in term two we have a big production which involves singers, actors, dancers and the school band. In term three there is a Cultural Concert and other Performing Arts evenings and in term four there is a Talent Quest.
Most clubs and extra-curricular activities take place at lunchtime, after school and in the weekends. We have a Sports Coordinator that helps get our students involved in the many sporting opportunities in the school and community. Our teams really enjoy having international students join them.

Info: Te Puke High School is in the centre of Te Puke and is a 5 minute walk to the main shopping street. It is a semi-rural town with around 10,000 inhabitants. It is 20 minutes from Tauranga city, 15 minutes from Mount Maunganui and 45 minutes from Rotorua. The closet beach is 10 minutes away and lakes are 30 minutes. There are many wonderful things to see and do in the area.
Specialized Programs: Outdoor Education, Trips
Info: I am also sure you will love our Outdoor Education classes, these classes will give you the chance to see some lovely parts of NZ and learn some valuable outdoor education skills. In term one the focus is on kayaking, term 2 is tramping/hiking, term 3 is snow and term 4 is scuba diving. Each term involves a week long camp.
The international department have one-day international trips each term and in term 4 we offer a 2 week Activity programme for international students not sitting NCEA exams. These trips and activities are usually included in your tuition fees.
Accommodation: Homestay
Info: Te Puke High School offers a wonderful range of homestays, some are near the school, others close to the beach and shopping mall or on farms and kiwifruit orchards. We carefully match homestays with our international students profiles and all homestays provide 3 meals a day, warm and comfortable bedrooms and a welcoming, supportive and caring environment. All homestays are selected carefully and Police Vetted.
Student Services & Orientation & Counseling:
The International Department comprises of the Director of International Student who interacts daily with the students and monitors carefully their well-being and academic program. She provides on-going support for students to ensure they are coping with life at Te Puke High School and in New Zealand. The Director keeps in regular contact with agents, parents and homestays. There is also the Administration and Homestay Manager who carefully selects and monitors our wonderful homestays. She also assist students with insurance claims, visa applications, booking trips and other queries and issues. On arrival the international students will participate in an Orientation Programme, providing information to help students settle in to New Zealand and school.
