Info: The Vernon School District welcomes International Students in all 5 of our modern well-equipped high schools. We are nestled in a valley and surrounded by mountains and 3 beautiful lakes. Summer is hot and dry and our winters are moderate. Just enough winter to experience the 4 seasons of Canada and still be comfortable. Vernon is a safe community that is easy for students to get around by public transportation, walking or school bus. The city of Vernon is located between the cities of Vancouver and Calgary. From either airport we are a short 50 minute flight to the Kelowna airport.
With one of Canada’s best climates, students come to Vernon to enjoy mountains, lakes and the world class Silver Star mountain ski resort. Vernon offers elite sports academies as well as Earth Quest Program.

Info: In our Homestay Program all of our students live with a Canadian family and become part of the family. Our families are carefully selected and monitored by 3 homestay coordinators and our Homestay Manager. Each student will meet their coordinator shortly after arrival. The coordinators are there to help student adapt and adjust to life in Canada. Most homestay families live in their own home in a neighborhood they’ve lived in for many years. As a student in the Vernon International Program, there are 3 levels of support. Each of our high schools has an International Program Teacher available to support students’ needs, both academic and social or emotional. Each high school offers student counselling and International Students may access this support. Every International Student will know who their Homestay Coordinator is and will see them regularly in their school. They will also be able to contact them by phone, text or email.
